It’s the best time of year at Maze House
The cool climate country around Daylesford and Ballarat is perfect for Autumn colour.
This year’s cooler summer should make for brilliant Autumn colour.
Technicolour
The beautiful Autumn colour coincides with Easter school holidays. Not only is there the maze, maze hunt (bonus easter egg on Sunday) and old time carnival games to play, there is a riot of colour throughout the garden.
The ornamental grapes on the veranda are the first to turn giving a dappled red hue across the deck. Then the maples, ashes and oaks go off. A sight for garden lovers and the fallen leaves are fun for kids!
Peak production
Then there’s the vegetable patch which is at its most productive. Summer crops like tomato, cucumber, eggplant and basil are still making a fist of it, while leeks and the brassica’s are thriving.
Likewise late season apples such as Granny Smith and persimmon are coming to their peak.
